Narrative:

I had flown this approach in a widebody transport and found it to be dangerous because the widebody transport doesn't have the roll rate that smaller airplanes have and because of that I had thought I would refuse it in any airplane. After thinking about it I thought it may not be bad in a little airplane, so maybe I'd try it. I had briefed for 35R in dfw and after getting set up for that approach said, 'fly 285 heading, intercept 31R localizer and expect stadium visibility 31R.' we hurriedly turned to the 31R ILS page to get the frequency and then had to find the stadium visibility and look at it. We could not see the airport at this time. We descended to 4000' and were above the G/south for 31R when approach said, 'cleared stadium visibility 31R, contact approach on 119.4.' I said, 'I don't like this approach at all--119.4,' and began diving for the stadium to get to 2500' since we were so close to it (the stadium). After passing the stadium I headed for a group of bldgs and over this group of bldgs I said, (on the radio), 'who made up this approach anyway?' I never saw a golf course and turned on what seemed like a base entry and flew to T/D. My comments on the radio were, admittedly, unprofessional and I'll refrain from doing this in the future, but I wanted approach to know I didn't like the procedure at all. I did, and he told me not to say things on the radio. I told him about the approach procedure and he couldn't have cared less. All he wanted to do was move traffic, whether it was dangerous or not. I told him I could refuse to fly this thing and he insinuated it would be a long time before I landed if I did. Guess I'm going to have to fly this whether I like it or not because there is absolutely no one at dfw who wants to change it. I'd like someone to tell me, why use this with a published ILS 31R? (I know the answer: noise); how high are those bldgs?; how high am I when I'm turning back on final?, I have to turn from about 267 degrees to 307 degrees, or 40 degree change of heading close to the ground; what NAVAID am I supposed to be using?; why isn't there a VASI on 31R, and how bad/dangerous can approachs get before they are changed?; who can change it?; are all texans crazy? I'm not on a high horse about this, but I feel an obligation to protect the passenger from the politicians. Also, who do I complain to?

Title: ACR MLG PLT COMPLAINT ABOUT STADIUM VISUAL APCH TO RWY 31R AT DFW.

Narrative: I HAD FLOWN THIS APCH IN A WDB AND FOUND IT TO BE DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE WDB DOESN'T HAVE THE ROLL RATE THAT SMALLER AIRPLANES HAVE AND BECAUSE OF THAT I HAD THOUGHT I WOULD REFUSE IT IN ANY AIRPLANE. AFTER THINKING ABOUT IT I THOUGHT IT MAY NOT BE BAD IN A LITTLE AIRPLANE, SO MAYBE I'D TRY IT. I HAD BRIEFED FOR 35R IN DFW AND AFTER GETTING SET UP FOR THAT APCH SAID, 'FLY 285 HDG, INTERCEPT 31R LOC AND EXPECT STADIUM VIS 31R.' WE HURRIEDLY TURNED TO THE 31R ILS PAGE TO GET THE FREQ AND THEN HAD TO FIND THE STADIUM VIS AND LOOK AT IT. WE COULD NOT SEE THE ARPT AT THIS TIME. WE DSNDED TO 4000' AND WERE ABOVE THE G/S FOR 31R WHEN APCH SAID, 'CLRED STADIUM VIS 31R, CONTACT APCH ON 119.4.' I SAID, 'I DON'T LIKE THIS APCH AT ALL--119.4,' AND BEGAN DIVING FOR THE STADIUM TO GET TO 2500' SINCE WE WERE SO CLOSE TO IT (THE STADIUM). AFTER PASSING THE STADIUM I HEADED FOR A GROUP OF BLDGS AND OVER THIS GROUP OF BLDGS I SAID, (ON THE RADIO), 'WHO MADE UP THIS APCH ANYWAY?' I NEVER SAW A GOLF COURSE AND TURNED ON WHAT SEEMED LIKE A BASE ENTRY AND FLEW TO T/D. MY COMMENTS ON THE RADIO WERE, ADMITTEDLY, UNPROFESSIONAL AND I'LL REFRAIN FROM DOING THIS IN THE FUTURE, BUT I WANTED APCH TO KNOW I DIDN'T LIKE THE PROC AT ALL. I DID, AND HE TOLD ME NOT TO SAY THINGS ON THE RADIO. I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE APCH PROC AND HE COULDN'T HAVE CARED LESS. ALL HE WANTED TO DO WAS MOVE TFC, WHETHER IT WAS DANGEROUS OR NOT. (I KNOW THE ANSWER: NOISE); HOW HIGH ARE THOSE BLDGS?; HOW HIGH AM I WHEN I'M TURNING BACK ON FINAL?, I HAVE TO TURN FROM ABOUT 267 DEGS TO 307 DEGS, OR 40 DEG CHANGE OF HDG CLOSE TO THE GND; WHAT NAVAID AM I SUPPOSED TO BE USING?; WHY ISN'T THERE A VASI ON 31R, AND HOW BAD/DANGEROUS CAN APCHS GET BEFORE THEY ARE CHANGED?; WHO CAN CHANGE IT?; ARE ALL TEXANS CRAZY? I'M NOT ON A HIGH HORSE ABOUT THIS, BUT I FEEL AN OBLIGATION TO PROTECT THE PAX FROM THE POLITICIANS. ALSO, WHO DO I COMPLAIN TO?
