Narrative:

I was PIC and pilot flying and executed a low speed (<40 KTS) aborted takeoff after illumination of rudder system 1-2 inoperative caution message on EICAS on the runway. [I] performed aborted takeoff and abnormal procedures as specified by emb aom. Contacted dispatch referred to maintenance control then returned to gate. Contract maintenance performed rudder system check at the direction of maintenance control; noted no system defects or associated messages logged in the aircraft maintenance computer and returned the aircraft to service following normal maintenance procedures. [I] departed with no further incident.
