Narrative:

This event occurred on the right hand wing dock; as I was moving sliders out to begin maintenance; with [a spotter]. As the lighting was poor; the controls very far away; and high noise. I was unable to hear or see very well what [the spotter] was trying to tell me. I stopped the slider short of making contact with the trunion door; when [the spotter] told me to go back. I thought he told me to go forward. At that time; I heard the door give way and stopped. [We] needed to move sliders out to open aircraft for inspection. More lighting is required under both wings and mechanical stops on sliders; to prevent contact.
