Narrative:

At cruise at FL330; 70 NM west of calco we experienced a rapid roll to the right not exceeding 30 degrees angle of bank (aob). [We] took control of aircraft putting airplane into control wheel steering (cws) and control wheel position (cwp) to correct to level flight. No altitude loss. Asked ATC what type of aircraft we were following at FL330 and the spacing. They said it was a B777 at FL330 at 8 miles. Told them we had a partial upset. [ATC] told us to descend to FL290. No passengers were up and about. No injuries to any passengers or flight attendants; continued uneventfully.
