Narrative:

We were at cruise and large single crack or melting was noted on the windshield. Then got an ecam for an overheat. Completed ECAM actions. About 30 seconds later we heard a load pop; looked up and the fo windshield had cracked. Followed non-ECAM abnormal procedure (windshield crack) the decision was made to divert. Descended to lower altitude to reduce landing weight but encountered turbulence. Completed windshield crack procedure prior to landing and followed overweight landing procedures as a precaution (FMGS predicted the landing weight within limits but may have been inaccurate due to SID). Maintenance did an overweight landing inspection.
